Read This First
- These files are for students and faculty participating in the ALN project and courses.
- To view the multimedia content contained within the ALN. You must have:
- One of the browsers listed below. (Netscape Recommended)
- All of the plugins listed below.
These are all 32 - bit program files. Windows 3.11 users
must download the 16 - bit version from the developers homepage.
- Students and faculty may wish to review the ALNnet Navigation CD prior to continuing
further.
ALNnet Navigation CD
- The navigation CD can be obtained from the ALN staff and appropriate
faculty for a reasonable cost of duplication; however, a copy of the most recent version of the
multimedia CD presentation can be obtained freely via public FTP. You will need up to 290MB of
free disk space to run the CD; uncompress to any temporary directory, once uncompressed you may
double click on "autorun.exe" to run the presentation.

utility and multiple file opening capability.

PKZip Compressed Files

ZIPs are archives of one or more files which have been compressed to reduce
download times. In order to view such files you will need a program that
supports the format: PKUnZip and WinZip are a few.
Plugins

Microsoft Power Point Files

Power Point is a software application used for creating and viewing presentations.
You must have either the full application, the power point viewr, or the
web plugin, in order to view a file of this type. The later two are free,
and available at Microsoft's Web site.

VIVO Active Extreme Video Encoding
-
VIVO Encoding is a special video/audio compression/encoding software used
for sending video and audio streams to users via 28.8kbps modem connections.
You must download have a copy of VIVO Player Plugin (typically for Netscape
Navigator or Internet Explorer) in order to view these video files. The
VIVO Player Plugin is free, and available at VIVO's
Web site.

- Allows you to stream quicktime videos

- Real Audio G2 Encoding

Real Audio v3+/G2 Encoding is a special audio compression software used for
sending audio streams to users via 28.8kbps modem connections. You must
download have a copy of RealAudioPlayer in order to listen or hear a RA
file. The RealAudio Player is free, and available at Real
Audio's Web site.
